What Exactly is Surge?

Surge is a global church planting movement helping pastors and people fulfill the great commission. Think of them as the behind-the-scenes support system that helps passionate pastors and church leaders turn their vision of starting a new church into reality. Since their founding in 2001, they've been quietly working around the world to make church planting more accessible and successful.

Surge has a presence in 140+ countries and are most actively planting in 25+ nations. Over 3000 churches were planted in 2024! But they're not just randomly dropping churches on a map. Instead, they work through what they call "spiritual sons"—faithful believers who have been mentored and discipled by trusted pastors from existing church plants. It's like a family tree of churches, where each new plant grows organically from established relationships and proven leadership.
